Children's Program
The Allegheny County Budo-Kai offers instruction in Chito-ryu Karate-do to children 8 to 11 years old in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh. The focus of the training in the Allegheny County Budo-Kai’s Children's Program is development of proper karate technique, discipline, and self-confidence.
While self-esteem is important in children, the Allegheny County Budo-Kai does not believe the best way to develop self-esteem in children is by putting an importance on winning trophies or by promoting them to ranks they don’t deserve. You won’t find any black belts under the age of 15 at the Allegheny County Budo-Kai. Instead, self-esteem is instilled in the students through achievement acquired through hard work and discipline.
The Children's Program is coordinated by Susan Sbuscio, a 5th degree black belt with over 30 years of karate training. Sensei Sbuscio is also a professional educator with over 25 years of experience teaching elementary and middle school students.
