Karate
The Allegheny County Budo-Kai has been offering instruction in karate-do in the Pittsburgh area since 1959. The school teaches Chito-ryu karate-do, a Japanese style of karate specializing in predominantly striking and kicking techniques. The quality of instruction at the Allegheny County Budo-Kai exceeds your typical karate school.
What sets the karate program at the Allegheny County Budo-Kai apart from other schools and styles is technical excellence. Chito-ryu karate-do was developed by Tsyoshi Chitose, a physician who used his knowledge of anatomy and body mechanics to improve upon already effective techniques. Additionally, all of the instructors at the Allegheny County Budo-Kai have more than 30 years of experience in karate-do. With their decades of experience, they each have a very in-depth understanding of body mechanics and karate technique which they pass along to the students. If you want to learn how to develop maximum power in striking and kicking, the Chito-ryu karate-do program at the Allegheny County Budo-Kai is simply the best.
The karate-do classes are taught by Joseph Hedderman (9th degree black belt), Tony Hedderman (6th degree black belt), Richard Sbuscio (5th degree black belt), and Susan Sbuscio (5th degree black belt). The dojo is a founding member of the Koshin-ha Chito-ryu Karate-do Association.
